November 19, 2007 Play Frenzic on Your iPhone or iPod Touch (sort of)

While we all wait patiently for the official iPhone SDK from Apple, we’re pleased to announce that starting today, there is a way for you to get your Frenzic fix on your iPhone or iPod touch.

Thanks to the remarkable efforts of Robert Neagu of Webcode.ro and his mad Javascript programming skills, we are happy to have been proven wrong when we said that a web version of Frenzic just wasn’t a good idea. Robert set out to optimize ARTIS Software’s game code for the Safari browser and the result is an effective demonstration of what Frenzic could be like when the native version becomes a reality. The demo is missing some key elements that makes the desktop version so robust, but it’s still loads of fun to play while you wait in the early morning hours of those Black Friday shopping lines or at the doctor's office.

For those of you who have not given Frenzic for the Mac a try, we invite you to download a free trial of the game that some have called the best strategy game for Mac OS X, period. Enjoy!

March 22, 2007 New Frenzic 1.1 Now Available

We are pleased to announce the release of Frenzic version 1.1 for Mac OS X. This latest version features several important improvements, including an in-game notification system for important announcements, new quit behavior and greatly improved game performance on older Macintosh systems.

Frenzic's updated minimum hardware requirements are now Macs with a G4 processor (or better), running OS X 10.4+ and at least 32Mb of video card memory. Previously, some users on older systems, were experiencing problems with the game timer resulting in unusually long play times and high scores. This issue has been resolved and Frenzic now plays as designed on all supported hardware. All scores affected by the timer bug have been cleared from the Leaderboard to level the play field.

In conjunction with this, previous versions of Frenzic will no longer sync with the game server, so all players will need to download and update to version 1.1. Simply download the new version and drag any previous version of the game to the trash. Your previous scores and login data will be preserved and you can play normally.

For a complete list of what's new in version 1.1, please visit the Version History page. This update is free and required for all registered users of Frenzic.

February 21, 2007 Frenzic Addiction Grabs Hold

Mac users everywhere are starting to feel the fever that comes with getting hooked on the Iconfactory and ARTIS' release of Frenzic. The reviews are starting to come in, so we thought we'd take a moment to share what others had to say about Frenzic for the Mac.

John Pastor over at Deliciously Binary had this to say: "Unfortunately, software developers need their money so Frenzic isn’t free, but starting at $14.95, you’ll want to pay for it. A timed 60-minute demo is available, only after that, it’s time to buy. It’s the best strategy game I’ve seen come out for OS X."

Michael over at Apple Gazette has Frenzic in their Software Spotlight: "The game gets very quick very fast, and you will find yourself addicted almost immediately. The online leader board is even more incentive to get in the game so you can show of your mad Frenzic skillz."

NIck Santili of theappleblog gives Frenzic the thumbs up: "...if you’re looking for something simple yet addicting, you may be interested in checking out IconFactory’s latest offering, Frenzic. It feels like the result of mashing Tetris with the game pieces from Trival Pursuit…And if that doesn’t clear things up, then go download it and see for yourself. I’ve only been playing it a few minutes, so I can’t comment on it’s staying power, but I am definitely enjoying what I’ve seen so far."

And finally, Pete Mortensen over at WIRED's Cult of Mac calls Frenzic "Mac-Only Crack" and simply said: "All you really need to know is that you'll have fun, and the graphics and sound facilitate your addiction. If you'll excuse me, I need to get in another round."
